Abstract

In this paper, channel zero-based equalizer designs for single-input single-output (SISO) channels, and single-input multiple-output (SIMO) channels are discussed. Three kinds of equalizers: zero-forcing (ZF) equalizer, minimum mean square error (MMSE) equalizer, and decision feedback equalizer (DFE), are implemented for SISO and SIMO channels. The novelty of the discussed approach is that all equalizers are designed using the channel zero information. By considering recursive filter architecture, it is shown that the proposed equalizers can be designed with efficient hardware implementation. An efficient recursive architecture for such implementation is described using Laguerre filters. Simulations are provided to compare the performance of designed equalizers.
