Abstract

New observations of magnetically modulated microwave absorption in high-Tc superconductors are presented. Powders, cooled in a near-zero magnetic field, exhibit a narrow ( approximately 0.2 mT) absorption peak with applied magnetic field, superimposed on the previously-observed and broader minimum. The authors investigate the effects of particle size and field history on the peak, and present possible mechanisms to account for the observations.
