Abstract

In the last few years, the construction works on Počitelj Bridge, the largest giant of the Corridor Vc, have been executed. Počitelj Bridge connects two banks of the “divine” (as named by the Illyrians) river Neretva, thus connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina with Croatia and Hungary. The Počitelj bridge is being built north from the town having the same name - Počitelj. Its length of about 980 m and height of about 100 m above the river make it the largest bridge in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It consists of seven spans, i.e. six middle pillars and two abutments. The subject of this paper is a review of the construction of the foundation at the S2 pillar location using analyses and comparisons with the main project, especially the protection of the construction pit during the works execution at the above-mentioned pillar location.
