Abstract
Juvenile Detention Facility in Szczypiorno 1958-1974. Strong and Weak Points of the Penitentiary Experiment The Świdowie experiment was not a classic experiment, but a search for the effectiveness of correctional treatment. Already known resocialization methods were used in changed organizational and environmental conditions. The OBP experiment was an attempt to correct previously made mistakes. In both experiments, an educational concept of punishment was implemented, in which school and science were at the centre of the prison for the juveniles. The system developed in Szczypiorno gave high effectiveness of the treatment measured by low return to crime. Many solutions of the experiment have entered the provisions of penitentiary law.
