Abstract
The starting point of the article is the assumption that the novel 2666 is - contrary to popular belief - a complete and meticulously thought out work even despite the un-finished editorial work due to the author’s premature death. The thorough considera-tion of the plot and also poetic aspects is evidenced by a series of 'hooks' – deliberately used techniques – that effectively capture the attention of discerning readers. The article briefly characterizes some of the relevant solutions adopted by the author – from the title and the structure of the novel to the different genres of its various parts – and then focuses on perhaps the most intriguing theme, namely the enigma of the ambiguous and elusive narrative. The question of narration in Roberto Bolaño’s last novel has not yet been discussed in detail, although it deserves a thorough analysis because of its impact on the overall interpretation of the work, which represents the main thesis of the article.
