Abstract

Upwards of 3.6 million middle and high school students currently use e‐cigarettes or vape devices, according to the latest National Youth Tobacco Study. Vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling the vapor produced by the heated nicotine liquid of an electronic cigarette, vape pen, or personal vaporizer. Although vaping companies deny they are marketing to young people, critics note such features in advertising as flavored options, youthful images, colors, animation, young actors, and suggestions that vaping makes you happier and improves social status.
