Abstract

Scenes of busy metropolises, thriving stock markets, jam-packed tourist resorts, blue swimming pools came to a standstill with the COVID-19 pandemic. The then existing economic slowdown in terms of unemployment and underemployment was further aggravated by the pandemic. The increased layoffs, burden of bank loans and nonpayment of rents placed tremendous stress on people, especially youth. This paper is an attempt to critically reflect on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth. The paper makes an attempt to generate learnings and policy recommendations for professional social workers in times of pandemics like these.
