Abstract

Background: Cancer morbidity and mortality among adolescents and young adults (AYA) have seen an alarming rise over the recent years. Authoritative guidelines defined AYA as patients within the age group of 15 to 39 years old. Leading cancer diagnoses differ across this bracket. Among the ages 15 to 24, highest incidence rates include hematologic, germ cell, thyroid, central nervous system, sarcoma and soft tissue cancers. Among the ages 25 to 39, breast, cervix, uterus, and colorectal were the leading diagnoses.
