Abstract

In the present work, the dependence of thermodynamic properties on shape, size and dimension of the nanomaterials is studied. The theoretical model proposed by Lu et al. is used in the present work and the model is extended to calculate the variation in Young’s modulus and vibrational frequency with size of the nanomaterial for spherical, hexahedral and tetrahedral nanomaterials along with nanowires and thin films of metals Au, Ag and Cu. The present calculated results are found in good agreement with the available experimental data which proves the validity of the theoretical model used.
