Abstract

The nature of COVID-19 pandemic has affected community particularly the poor dramatically. School closure and quarantine take a ruthless toll on children. COVID-19 measures can create a humanitarian crisis particularly in Africa where there is malnutrition, clean water and inadequate health services. The consequences of COVID-19 can have major impact of children not only during this crisis but also for years to come. Psychosocial and change in family life can have a profound and lasting impact on the emotional, cognitive, behavioral and physiological functioning of an individual. Depending on the circumstances, the psychosocial impacts of COVID-19 are associated with variables to include financial strain, fear of infection and perceived life threat, and parents with higher distress and anxiety.
