Abstract

This study examines human immunodeficiency virus risk among Black men who disclosed their same-sex behavior to their female partners. Black men (n=397), 15–29 years of age, who engaged in penile-anal intercourse with a man in the past three months were recruited at a sexually transmitted infections clinic. Bivariate associations between sexual risk outcomes (i.e. condomless sex and hiv serostatus) and disclosure status to their female partners were examined. Disclosing young Black men who have sex with men and women (n=173) were more likely to be hiv seropositive, engage in condomless vaginal sex, and condomless insertive anal sex. Rates of condomless sex and prevalence of sexually transmitted infections remain high underscoring the need for more education and counseling for Black msmw and their partners.
