Abstract

Nonpharmacological treatment of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is often requested by parents of children with ADHD. Yoga is an alternative option with increasing availability and acceptance in the Western world. This review examines the current evidence for yoga as a primary or adjunctive treatment for ADHD in children and adolescents. There is some preliminary support for the benefit of yoga as an adjunctive treatment for ADHD symptoms in children, but large controlled studies are warranted to establish efficacy for yoga as an alternative treatment for ADHD in children and adolescents.
