Abstract

Abstract Ylide-gold complexes of the type triphenylphosphine(triphenylphosphonium alkylide)gold(I) chloride, (Remark: Graphics omitted.), and bis(triphenylphosphonium alkylide)gold(I) chloride, (Remark: Graphics omitted.), have been obtained from alkylidene triphenylphosphoranes, Ph3P=CH–R (R: H, CH3, CH(CH3)2), and (triphenylphosphine)gold(I) chloride, Ph3PAuCl. Bis(triphenylarsonium methylide)gold(I) chloride, [Ph3AsCH2–Au–CH2AsPh3]Cl, has been synthesized from methylenetriphenylarsorane and Ph3PAuCl. In these organogold complexes, the ylides are attached to the gold atom through the carbanionic donor atom. The 1H-NMR spectra of [Ph3PCH2–Au–PPh3]Cl indicates an intermolecular exchange process in the temperature range +25–−50 °C.
