Abstract
Abstract Main purpose of this study is to find out the perceptions of academics at universities about change and innovation. The population of the study is 843 academicians who work at educational faculties of some state universities in Istanbul. (Marmara University, Bogazici University and Istanbul University). The sampling of the study is 196 academicians chosen randomly. The study has been conducted quantitively and the data has been gathered by means of a 30-item-scale that had been developed by the researchers themselves. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale is .87. The data was analyzed with percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean, t test and one way variant analysis. According to the results of the study the perceptions of academics about change and innovation was found at medium level at higher education institutions. There are meaningful differences between the perceptions of academics according to variations of age, experience and education as well. Key Words: Higher education, academicians, change, innovation
