Abstract

PBO (poly-p-phenylenbenzobisoxazole) fibers which step forward among other high performance fibers due to its excellent strength and flame resistance properties have a widespread usage in almost all technical textile areas. PBO can be used in different forms such as fiber, yarn, fabric (knitted or woven), nonwoven or composite. The most striking unfavorable point of these fibers is their sensitivity to light and moisture. Therefore, these fibers should be applied and stored in a sensitive manner. In this review, production, properties and application areas of PBO (poly-p-phenylenbenzobisoxazole) fibers are given in detail
