Abstract

An Examination Of The Relationship Between Wellness And Altruism The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationships between wellness and levels of altruism among undergraduate students, with regard to gender, faculty, grade, and the social environment variables. The participants of the research was consisted of 778 undergraduate students (532 female, 246 male) from Inonu University. The instruments of the study were the Wellness Scale and Altruism Scale. Besides, Personal Information Form was used to measure the demographic variables of the study. Independent Samples t test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Simple Linear Regression, One- Way ANOVA were used to analyze the data. According to the results of the study, it has been found that there was a significant and positive relationship between the wellness and levels of altruism. At the same time it was found that altruism was a significant predictior of wellness. According to the findings of the study, there were no significant differences among students by their faculties and regard to gender in terms of altruism and well-ness. On the other hand, it was found that 4th grade students' wellness scores higher than those students in other grades. In addition, it was found that 3th graders level of altruism was higher than those in 1st graders. Students' wellness scores showed significant differences according to social environment.
