Abstract

is Japanese abbreviation of a longer phrase, Suuji wa dokushin ni kagiru, meaning the digits must remain single. It is a challenging numeric puzzle that trains our logical mind. Solving a Sudoku puzzle requires no math, not even arithmetic. Even so, game poses a number of intriguing mathematical problems. This paper describes an algorithm to solve Sudoku puzzle in a systematic way. It guarantees a unique solution to problem for all difficulty levels.
