Abstract
This study investigates the Yenisehir Movie Theater which building witnessed to the early periods of the 20 th century Turkey who was trying to catch industrialization after the Turkish War of Independence. Notably, the building reflects the modernization process with its existence. While the archival study reveals story of the Yenisehir Movie Theater with its construction process, at the same time it sheds light on how modernism was acknowledged outside of the capital in local level. In this regard, the building could be accepted as a local acknowledgment of modernism, thus, it becomes symbolic structure not only for the 1950s Karabuk but also for the period of the Early Republican Turkey. In this study, foundation of Karabuk Iron-Steel Factories as a reflection of industrialization aims, construction process of Yenisehir Movie Theater and its effects on formation of social and spatial environment are respectively investigated.
