Abstract

The objective of this study is to review how the green-building numbers, its certificate types and its evaluation criteria are correlated with the countries’ development levels. In this content, the green-building certificates are preliminarily reviewed, and the countries which shall be compared according to the green-building criteria are determined according to “2015 Human Development Report”. Thereafter, by using the data that is obtained in “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” (LEED) Evaluation System” which is most extensively used one in Green Building Certification Systems and the green building numbers, types, certificate types, LEED criteria for the existing and new green building are compared for the countries of which the development levels are different. As a result of this study, green building certification number in developed countries are high compared to developing countries as expected. According to green building types; the number of LEED applications for new buildings are found to be higher than the existing buildings. When the total scores taken from the green building criteria were checked, there was a difficulty in achieving different criteria depending on the characteristics of the country itself.
