Yeasts found in exudates of algarrobo trees ( Prosopis spp) in northwest Argentina (Provinces of Tucuman, Salta and Jujuy) and in the Chaco were compared with those from rotting cacti in Argentina and others isolated from the European algarrobo ( Ceratonia siliqua L.) in Crete. The relatively large numbers of osmotolerant isolates and of methylotrophic yeasts are of interest.
