Abstract

The yield ofKluyveromyces marxianus Y-113 grown on sulphuric acid casein whey permeate was decreased at high lactose or ethanol concentrations and slightly increased with high agitation and supplementation of the permeate with nutrients. The maximum specific growth rate was most influenced by the stirrer speed, ethanol concentration and nutrient supplementation.
