Abstract

Studies on military campaigns in the 3rd Millennium BC have focused on royal inscriptions, neglecting other sources such as year names. This paper aims to show the potential of year names in such studies. This work comprises two parts: an introduction in which the concept “year name” is discussed and a second part presenting the information that year names yield on military campaigns, which is assembled in the Appendix to the article.
