Abstract

Through Zn doping the AF Néel temperature, T N, is lowered of the same quantity for different oxygen contents, contrary to previous NMR measurements. In spite of this reduction of T N, characteristic properties of YBa 2Cu 3O 6+x in its AF state remain unchanged. At x=0.39, magnetic Bragg peaks exhibit an unusual temperature dependence. Our investigations suggest that the effect of dilution due to Zn doping in YBCO is similar to that of usual quasi 2E Heisenberg magnets. Likewise in the oxygen range x=0.2−0.4, hole effects simply add to the effect of dilution as previously observed in La 2Cu 1−yZn yO 4+x
