Abstract

The most important heritage that a society possesses are its rich culture, literature and art. Cultural wealth is the first requirement of social construction and social progress. This is only possible with a langugaege which is processed. Turkish culture and literature are among the world's biggest and most advanced cultures with its rich accumulation and products for centuries. It is needlees to state that Turkish and relevant mechanisims are responsible for the development. Language is the most important factor that reflects the mentality of a society and displays the identity of the society. Sophistication of the ideas of the communities can be understood by looking at the people’s language skills and how they possess their language. Turkish language which exists for centuries has added more wealth on its wealth and more strength on its strength in every new age. As a result of this accumulation, folk literature has emerged. Turkish folk literature is a great literature in which the most beautiful examples of Turkish language are given and the most sensitive and the most unique products of it are displayed. Riddles, one of these products, is not only the most beautiful works of the language with its structure and use but also the most important material of folk literature that will improve creative and associative thinking. Society's ability to cope with problems and that it has problem-solving skills is directly related to the creative and associative thinking. Today, these thinking skills are taught with formal education in modern countries. However, these new ways of thinking that the world has just realized have already been gained with riddles by individuals for centuries. In this study, Turkish folk riddles are considered in terms of improving creative and associative thinking and the subject is supported with examples which will improve creative and associative thinking.
