Abstract

Problem Statement: In recent years, increase in divorce rates in our country is remarkable.This situation requires that psychological consultants working in schools can take care of children of divorced families as individuals and in groups, and support their developments. Purpose of the study: “Life Skills Education Program” is designed and applied for the divorced families’ children attending to 4th and 5th grade at a primary school located in a town of Ankara’s middle social-economic class. Purpose of the study is to determine whether it leads a change on children’s adjustment level or not. Procedure: In the research, 2 x 3 (experimental and control group, pre-post-follow-up test) experimental design was used. Results and Conclusions: Research data is attained from Divorce Adjustment Scale applied to divorced families’ children attending research. Data shows that life skills education program which is designed for children of divorced families increases children’s adjustment to divorce signiicantly, and this increase is permanent. Recommendations: he indings show that psychological consultants working in schools can take advantage of education programs to support post-divorce adjustment process.
