Abstract

The mean square amplitudes of vibration, Debye–Waller factors and Debye temperatures of bcc Fe100–xCrx alloys prepared by mechanical alloying have been obtained from X-ray intensities. The values of X-ray Debye temperature obtained for Fe100–xCrx alloys have been analyzed and compared with the values obtained from the temperature dependence of the centre shift of Mossbauer spectra and other methods. The values of Debye temperature have been calculated from Kopp–Neumann relation. X-ray Debye temperatures obtained in the present work have been used to estimate vacancy formation energies of Fe100–xCrx system.
