Abstract

An X-ray microtomography system utilizing a rotating anode generator operated in fine focus mode has been developed. X-ray images of an object are taken by a cooled CCD camera after being converted into visible light by a fluorescent screen. Standard digital back-projection techniques are adopted to obtain the tomographs. The resolution of reconstructed images have reached approximately 10–20mm for a test object of 1 mm in a diameter by operating the generator with a Mo target at the power of 40kV × 30mA. The capability for 3-D microtomography has been demonstrated by taking multi-sliced tomographs.
