Abstract

Carbon K -emission spectra of solid C 60 have been obtained by electron beam excitation. The spectra show nine distinct features over the K -emission band from 284 to ∼260 eV. These features are compared with the density of states of C 60 calculated under the local-density approximation in the density-functional theory. Good agreement between the experimental spectrum and the calculated one is found.
