Abstract

Structural, light up-conversion, concentration quenching, and fluorescence properties of Erbium doped lanthanum titanium oxide, La2-xErxTi2O7 ceramics have been investigated. Structural characteristics of La2-xErxTi2O7 have been investigated through X-ray diffraction patterns. Strong up-conversion luminescence at 525, 548 and 649 nm attributed for the transitions 2H11/2→4I15/2, 4S3/2→4I15/2 and 4F9/2→4I15/2 respectively is seen under the excitation of 980 nm for Er3+ content of x= 0.025, 0.05, 0.075, 0.1, and 0.125. Concentration quenching above x =0.1 has been observed. Variation in UC emission intensity with pump–power confirms two or more photon absorption mechanism for the up-conversion process.
