X-ray crystal structure of Mo 2Ag 6S 6[SCMe 3] 2}(O) 2(Ph 3P) 4], a first double cubane-like compound of the MoAgS system

Abstract

A novel MoAgS double cubane-like heterometallic compound, [{Mo 2Ag 6 S 6[SCMe 3] 2}(O) 2(Ph 3P) 4], has been obtained from the reaction of the butterfly-like compound {MoAg 2S 3}(O)(Ph 3P) 3 with AgSCMe 3 in CH 2Cl 2 solvent. The title complex has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. In the complex, two cubane-like fragments are linked by two AgSCMe 3 bonds, in which the SCMe 3 − ligand acts as a triple bridge. Three AgSCMe 3 bonds were found to be 2.389(3), 2.525(3), and 2.644(3) Å, respectively.
