Abstract

High resolution synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction and electron diffraction studies have been conducted on a Nd 3(Fe,Ti) 29-type phase of composition Y 3(Fe 0.933V 0.067) 29. The electron diffraction confirmed that twinning of the monoclinic phase produces a pseudohexagonal symmetry as we previously observed by X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. The synchrotron study provided new information on different coherent lengths in two studied directions, presumably caused by anisotropic disorder in substitution of the Y atoms by Fe–Fe dumbbells.
