Abstract

Stages of the development of X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) analysis in obtaining data about the local atomic structure of substances are described. Limitations on the modern state of the theoretical interpretation of XANES spectroscopy and possible ways of developing this procedure are discussed. As an example, we considered studies performed at the X-Ray Spectroscopy Laboratory, Faculty of Physics, Rostov State (now South Federal) University.
