Abstract
In the valence band photoelectron spectra of YbB 6, we have observed 4f 12 final state multiplet features from the trivalent Yb in addition to prominent doublet features from the divalent Yb. The origin of the trivalent Yb in YbB 6 is investigated by means of XPS and UPS including resonant photoemission spectra.
