Abstract

Valence state and U 4f core spectra of ternary uranium compounds U 3T 3X 4(T=Ni, Cu and X=Sn, Sb) are measured by X-ray photoemission and bremsstrahlung isochromat spectroscopy. The diffreences in the spectral shapes of valence bands suggest the importance of the hybridization of U 5f states with T 3d and X 5p states. For all compounds, the unoccupied U 5f state spectra are similar in shape except for small differences in the tailings.
