Abstract

Xiuguozhangia macrospora, a new conidial fungus, collected from India on dead bamboo stems is described. The species is characterized by smaller conidiophores than other reported species, holoblastic conidial ontogeny with monoblastic, terminal, lageniform proliferating conidiogenous cells, along with distinctly large, solitary, dictyoseptate, 1–3 appendaged, brown conidia composed of several compact rows of cells. Comparison with related species and a key to species of Xiuguozhangia is also presented.
