Abstract

The author describes and figures five new species of Xiphinema from French West Africa: X. hallei, X. yapoense, X. ebriense, X. setariae and X. parasetariae. Details are given of the anatomy of these species and of X. campinense Lordello 1951. The so-called guiding ring of the spear is in reality a guiding tube. In addition to latero-subventral and latero-subdorsal pores, ventral pores are present in nearly all the species examined. X. ebriense possesses in the female gonad a very enigmatic muscular structure called organe Z. The presence of X. diversicaudatum (Micoletzky 1927), Thorne 1939 is also noted.
