Abstract

A chlorination product of shark oil dissolved in carbontetrachloride with or without addition of benzoyl peroxide was subjected to irradiation with γ ray by 3.3×107 r in a sealed glass tube in order to obtain a product improved in the stability against heat. The irradiation proved, however, to have little effect on the melting point. The melting point of the product was raised to some extent only when the air in the sealed tube had been replaced by nitrogen before the irradiation, irrespective as to whether benzoyl peroxide had or had not been added to the sample.
