Abstract

X-ray reemission from a gold plasma, which is heated by intense soft X-ray radiation (4.4×1012 W/cm2), has been observed. The reemission rate increases with time and reaches 50% at the maximum. Temporal evolution of the X-ray reemission is analyzed in terms of a self-similar solution for the ablative heat wave which we modify to account for the time variation of the heating X-ray.
