Abstract

The spectrum of silicon has been measured and analysed in terms of six transitions of array in an L-S coupling scheme. It is found that while their energies are in agreement to within 2.3 eV with the theoretical HFS values, the intensities deviate drastically and need further theoretical investigations. The measured spectrum appears as two prominent satellites, namely and , with a very weak structure, , in between.
