Abstract

Abstract Fluorescence spectra of a Co67Gd33 amorphous thin film were measured for the Gd Lα1,2 lines using circularly polarized X-rays of energies tuned at 134, 154, and 174 eV above the Gd L3-edge (7244 eV). Multielectron excitation (MEE) effects and their magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) for the Gd Lα1,2 lines were investigated. The MEE effect for Gd Lα1 appeared as superimposed over the original fluorescence line, and the peak shift due to a two core hole state could not be detected.
