Abstract

The shape of the Kβ line in the emission spectra of iron has been investigated for Fe2O3, Fe3O4 and lithium ferrite aluminates. Two clearly defined low energy Kβ satellites were observed. The positions of the satellite lines were explained as being due to plasmon excitations of some electrons in atoms forming the crystalline lattice. These oscillations occur independently for groups of atoms belonging to different lattice positions.
