Abstract

AbstractThe structure of the camphor molecule was determined by comparison of the X‐ray diagrams of the isomorphous α‐Br, Cl and CN derivatives. This rather general procedure, avoiding the usual difficulty of Fourier synthesis by a direct determination of the signs of the Fourier components, is described in the introduction of part I. The structure thus found has been checked in part II by comparison of calculated and observed intensities.
