Abstract

X-ray free-electron-laser oscillators with nuclear-resonant cavity stabilization hold the promise for providing X-rays with unprecedented coherence properties that will enable interesting quantum-optical and metrologial applications. Among these are atom optics with X-ray-based optical elements providing high momentum transfer, or a frequency standard far surpassing the best state-of-the-art atomic clocks.
