Abstract

Eu-doped YAG nanophosphors were successfully synthesized via sol–gel process by using glucose as a chelating agent. The effect of YAG/glucose molar ratio on the crystalline structure and X-ray excited optical luminescence (XEOL) of YAG were investigated. The results indicated that the average crystallite size and XEOL emission intensity change with the YAG/glucose molar ratio. X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and total XEOL yield were measured simultaneously around the Eu LIII-edge and indicated that the Eu valence does not change with the YAG/glucose ratio. However, luminescence increases as an energy function. XEOL emission spectra revealed that samples produced with YAG/glucose=1:1M ratio presented the highest light yield.
