Abstract

The methods used by Schotte and Schotte to study Mahan's x-ray edge problem are extended to the case of finite hole mass. The singular behavior is expected to continue down to a distance $\ensuremath{\Delta}\ensuremath{\omega}\ensuremath{\propto}\frac{1}{M\ensuremath{\delta}}$ above the absoprtion edge for attractive electron-hole interactions.
