Abstract

Strengthening legitimacy of Macedonian Dynasty is underlying intellectual activities of Byzantine Emperor Konstantinos VII. Emperor getting into action with this purpose first appointed Genesios for producing first epitome of historiography. Genesios wrote historical work including incidents from 813 when Theophanes Khronographia’s discourse came to a end to 813. This work, having a value owing to being first historical work in era of Emperor Konstantinos VII, involves some errors and deficiencies. However this work succeeded in displaying intensive connections between Byzantine Empire and Turks especially Bulgars in ninth century. If Genesios’s work is compared with informations of its contemporary, anonymous book whose title ise Theophanes Continuatus from this point of view, we project that consistent informations about connections of Byzantine-Turk could be reached. First of all, for this purpose it will be useful to introduce Genesios and chapters about Turks in his work.
