Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to diagnose the extent of digital exclusion of seniors in Poland, especially in the context of their use of social services, and to review social law and government programs in terms of preventing digital exclusion of seniors. Research method – The research methods used in the preparation of the study in question are the analysis of domestic and foreign literature on the subject, the analysis of statistical data on the matter in question and the dogmatic‑legal method. Results – The analysis carried out revealed three main problems that prevent seniors from effectively using social services through information and communication technologies. First is the scant use of modern media by seniors, second is the mismatch between e-government and the possibility of its use by seniors, and the third is the lack of appropriate solutions that could solve the aforementioned problems. Originality / value / implications / recommendations – Identification of the main factors that prevent seniors from benefiting from social services supported by ICT.
