Abstract

Abstract The lowest dimension anomalous quartic vector boson couplings are studied in boson pair production at a high-energy photon-photon collider. Since our couplings do not break the custodial SU(2)weak symmetry we compare W pair production which has a very large cross-section in the standard model with Z pair production which is background free. We stress the importance of realising polarised beams, especially the Jz = 0 mode obtained when both photons have the same helicity. This mode not only offers a unique possibility of reaching the scalar sector of the weak theory and the least tested part of the standard model but it is also the most straightforward way of disentangling between the anomalous couplings.
