Abstract

A vogue for Brontë themes on the stage has been followed by a Brontë event in the screen world, the production by United Artists of a film entitled “Wuthering Heights,” with the illustrious Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier, Flora Robson and David Niven in the cast.It has had such a friendly reception on both sides of the Atlantic that it is likely to bring us other Brontë films, notably one by Warner Brothers First National, who plan to make a screen drama of the life of the famous family, with scenario by James Hilton. Those of us who are deeply devoted to the women of genius at the Haworth Parsonage welcome all means of winning new readers for Charlotte and Emily.
