Abstract
This chapter discusses the diagnosis and management of distal radial fractures, the most common type of wrist fracture in adults. It reviews the differential diagnosis of traumatic wrist pain. It also discusses the use of various imaging modalities in both the diagnosis and management of a distal radial fracture. It also reviews appropriate management steps, including proper examination components and splinting techniques. Specifically, the chapter examines a case study of a patient who presented to the emergency department following a fall while hiking. He reported landing on his right wrist and experiences pain and swelling. On X-ray and ultrasound, he is diagnosed with a displaced distal radius fracture.
